Synthesis of functionalised silicas for immobilisation of homogeneous catalysts

Abstract The synthesis of inorganic-organic hybrid silica materials has been developed for immobilisation of a range of homogeneous catalysts. The materials prepared have been characterised using a variety of techniques and it has been found that the presence of high concentrations of organic species in the materials has a dramatic and surprising effect on the porosity and structure of the final material.
