Prognostic value of RANK – marker (receptor activator of nuclear factor - kB) in breast cancer carriers.

2016
e12540Background: RANK is a transmembrane protein which expression has been initially found only in dendritic cells and mature osteoclasts. Soon the notice saying that a RANK-marker expression was found in the sound breast tissues and tumor cells of the prostate cancer and the breast cancer. Methods: 83 patients with the regional breast cancer (T2- 4N0-3M0) treated from 2003 to 2010 were enrolled. The criteria to become a part of the study were a histologically distinctive diagnosis of invasive breast cancer, aged 18 and older and ECOG 0 or 1. The immunohistochemical staining of the primary tumor received as a result of a biopsy was used for the test. The clinical material was studied retrospectively. Results: The analysis of dependence of time period till the development of metastases on the RANK expression has statistically proved the decrease of time period till the advance of the disease at high expression (RANK(high)) with patients as compared to the patients with low expression (RANK(low)).
