Meningoencephalitis Associated With Pneumonitis Due to Mycoplasma pneumoniae

1967
Three patients had pneumonitis complicated by severe, prolonged meningoencephalitis, followed by recovery without significant neurologic residua. In all three patients there was specific serologic evidence of infection with Mycoplasma pneumoniae . Meningoencephalitis associated with M pneumoniae appears to be rare, but infection with this agent deserves consideration in otherwise unexplained cases of encephalitis.
