Short Course Chemotherapy For Childhood Tuberculosis : Standardisation Of Drug Dosages

1994
Over diagnosis and management with high dosage drug schedules are the common, though unwarranted features of childhood tuberculosis in India. 80 children with pulmonary tuberculosis were selected for the administration of two different short course chemotherapeutic schedules 1 SHRZ + 5HR (optimal dosage) and 1 SHRZ + 5 HR (high dosage). Of the 54 children who completed treatment there was no difference between optimal and high dosage drug regimens (p > 0.5).
