Dimensionality Viewed from a Thermal Perspective

1992
In an unbounded space the rate that heat flows away from an isolated heated point depends upon the dimensionality of the space. This can be qualitatively related to the number of possible heat paths available for heat to flow. In a bounded space where heat flow is constrained, heat flow at a particular point can be used to define an effective dimensionality of the space at that point.
