P.2.023 Glycine transporter 1 disruption restricted to the nucleus accumbens is sufficient to enhance latent inhibition

2010
(control group − matched for gender, age, marital status, employment and substance abuse, all are risk factor for suicide) were analyzed. No statistically significant differences between groups were found concerning overall antidepressant medications (49.5% study group, 41.7% study group, p = 0.328), other psychotropic medications (antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, BZD) or combination of both. The research group was exposed more to SSRI’s but this difference did not reach statistical significance (p = 0.073). Amongst the study group, 65% had attempted suicide in the past, while only 32% in the control group did so (p< 0.0001). During the study period, 25 depressed patients of the study group were hospitalized both after a suicide attempt and without suicide attempt prior to hospitalization. Using McNemar test for this specific group, comparing exposure to psychotropic medications, no differences were found prior to hospitalization with or without suicide attempt. In both groups, over 50% of patients had no antidepressant treatment prior to hospitalization. Ingestion of medications was used as a method of suicide attempt in 52.4% of cases.
