The control method comprises a step of obtaining a first distance through the first proximity sensor in the mobile terminal, wherein the first distance is the distance between a target object and the terminal, and a step of controlling the fingerprint sensor to enter a sleep state if the first distance is smaller than a predetermined threshold value. According to the control method and the device, the distance between the target object and the terminal is obtained through the proximity sensor, the fingerprint sensor is controlled according to the distance, the problem of battery consumption caused by fingerprint identification due to a wrong operation is solved, and the effect of improved battery use efficiency is realized.
