Cucumis melo protein extract with antioxidant activity, its preparation and cosmetic or pharmaceutical composition or food composition containing the same extract

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject soluble protein extract for medicines for treating tumor, medicines for preventing skin aging, cosmetics, foods or the like, having a specific amount of superoxide dismutase enzyme activity and having antioxidation ability from melon. CONSTITUTION: One kind of melon strain 95LS444 cell strains or hybrid strains derived from the 95LS444 cell, especially pulp of Vauclusien, Clipper and Supporter type melon is pulverized in a mortar at a cool temperate and 50 mM phosphoric acid buffer (pH 7. 5) is added thereto and the mixture is homogenized and centrifuged to recover the serum and the serum is filtered to provide the objective soluble melon protein extract having a superoxide dismutase enzyme activity of greater than 30 U/mg of proteins and antioxidation ability and is useful for medicines for treatment of tumor, medicines or cosmetic for external local application to skin aging, food compositions or the like.
