RCPDNPT:A Tool to Deploy a Post-disaster Network Under Resource-Constraint Scenarios

In case of large scale natural disaster (like a cyclone, hurricane, etc.) conventional communication infrastructure (like cellular or internet) are damaged. In these scenarios deploying a temporary infrastructure for communication is of utmost importance. In this paper, we present a software tool to plan a rapidly deployable temporary opportunistic (DTN based) communication infrastructure for post-disaster scenarios under the constraint of the number of available deployable network resources. Such a tool may be used by the government disaster management authority to rapidly deploy a temporary communication infrastructure to aid the rescue relief operations in the aftermath of the disaster. Given the knowledge of disaster-affected area (through the Google Map or Open Street Map), the location of control center, the locations of shelter points, where the affected people can take shelter after the disaster and the pool of limited number of available deployable communication resources (like communication towers, data mules, etc.), the proposed tool could provide a near-optimal deployment plan to deploy the available resource pool to create a post-disaster communication infrastructure such that the end to end delay of the opportunistic network is minimized and having a decent delivery probability.
