Results of microbial investigation of edible plants surfaces (vegetables, fruits, berries) which are traditionally consumed
in the countries of the Black Sea region are presented in this paper. Variety of microbes, isolated from
plant surface is characterized. The ability of some bacilli and bifidobacteria strains to inhibit in vitro and in vivo
potentially pathogenic enterobacteria Pantoea agglomerans and Providencia rettgeri was shown. The data are
useful in protection of human opportunistic infections.
