[Myoglobin in the myometrium of the uterus? (author's transl)].
1980
: Publications dealing with the question if myoglobin is to be found in the smooth muscle cells, are searce and contradictory. The radioimmunologic determination of serum myoglobin to confirm or exclude myocardial necrosis gains increasing importance, also in the perinatological field. In order to determine if the uterus contains myoglobin which would interfere with differential diagnostical procedures, we examined homogenized myometrium concerning it lies between 0,021 and 0,31 microgram/g myometrium, and is therefore neglectable. After exclusion of diseases of skeletal muscle, myoglobin is a significant parameter of myocardial necrosis.
