Infrastructure for coal and torbanite mining in the Jamison and Megalong Valleys, 1870 to 1900s

Our story starts in Scotland, near Falkirk, where two completely separate things happened in the late 1700s, which later came together in New South Wales in a key industry that flourished in the Blue Mountains area between about 1870 and 1946, namely oil from torbanite.
