Observation of 30dB/cm gain in Si photonic crystal slot Er x Y 2−x SiO 5 waveguide

Er x Y 2−x SiO 5 waveguide slotted into Si photonic crystal was demonstrated. Strong optical confinement for the C-band is confirmed in this device. Optical gain of 30dB/cm was observed by VSL method.
