Energiemonitor van de Nederlandse Bloembollensector 2016
2018
Compared to 2008 the weighted mean energy use per unit was reduced with 17.8% in 2016. Thus, the Energy- Efficiency Index (EEI) resulted in 100 – 17.8 = 82.2. The target of an EEI reduced to 82.4 has therefore been realised. This was accomplished by a strong reduction in the use of (fossil) gas through an increased adoption of bulb forcing in multiple layers by 23% of the tulip growers forcing 49% of all tulips. Despite the realised reduction of energy use per unit, the bulb industry increased its total energy use from 4.7 PJoules in 2008 to 4.8 PJoules in 2016. In this period total acreage increased with 7% and the tulip production with 64%. However, due to a reduction of 42% of the energy use per unit for tulip forcing, the total energy use in the forcing industry was reduced with 4%. In 2016 up to 10.9%of the electricity use was renewable. Electricity from solar panels rose from only 0.3% in 2013 to 4.1%.
