Preparation of Magnesium Hydroxide Dry Powder by Hydrating Method

Magnesium hydroxide dry powder is prepared by hydrating method with light calcined magnesium oxide as raw material.The products studied by XRD,SEM and laser particle size analysis show the product with of good crystallographic form,and its morphology with sheet-like structure.The particle size and purity are within the national standard of powder extinguishing agent(GB 4066.2-2004).The content of magnesium hydroxide is also analyzed by EDTA titration method.The effects of stirring speed,temperature and reaction time on conversion rate are discussed.It is found that the conversion rate can be improved with the increase of stirring speed,temperature and reaction time.When the optimal conditions are controlled at 900 r/min of stirring speed,90 ℃ of temperature and 8 h of reaction time,the conversion rate can reach 81%.
