Investigation on All-Optical Buffer System Based on Gain-Transparent SOA

In this paper studied the polarization ratation in gain transparent SOA, and set up a polarization rotation optical switch used gain-transparent semiconductor optical amplifier based on XPM effect. The GT-SOA is the key device of the buffer system. This paper worked out the simulation software on the basis of the theoretical model of GT-SOA. Then established the all-optical buffer system based on GT-SOA, and embedded GT-SOA simulation module in the system simulation software. This paper studied the effect of signal rate, transmission code, buffer time in the single wavelength system. Study shows GT-SOA acted as an effective switch in the all-optical buffer system.
