2016
Objective To evaluate the performance of standardized training program for postgraduate year 1 (PGY-1) surgery residents and find the latent problems. Methods 31 PGY-1 surgery residents who had received standardized training in surgery school of Peking University First Hospital in 2014 were investigated. The standardized trained surgery residents were assessed comprehensively with multiple-choice questions (MCQ) of clinical medicine elementary theory knowledge and multiple-station objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) of clinical skill. Finally, then every resident completed a questionnaire after assessment. Results The average score of MCQ test was (71.41±6.12), and its discrimination was 0.146. The average score of OSCE test was (74.66±4.39), and its discrimination was 0.578. Conclusions It turned out to be a valid and objective assessment of the clinical comprehensive ability. In addition, with the help of questionnaire we were acquainted with residents’ evaluation of standardized training and examination, and the problems could be settled specifically in the future education, which would be propitious to establish residents’ clinical thinking mode and improved their clinical abilities.
