In the COVID-19 epidemic, which was declared as a pandemic by World Health Organization, the most important duty fell to healthcare professionals in our country, as in the whole world. Nurses who are at the forefront in the fight against COVID-19 have become the building blocks keeping the health system functional. The Turkish Nurses Association, which continues to work in line with current and scientific data in order to make the nursing profession an autonomous health profession that will provide high quality and reliable service for the benefit of the society, has been actively involved in the fight against the pandemic both at national and international levels. The Turkish Nurses Association’s activities have been carried out by means of local representatives, with the aim of ensuring the safety of society and health workers. Demonstrating a dynamic approach in the management of the pandemic process, The Turkish Nurses Association shared information and data at the national level with the society, colleagues, decisionmakers, and the media. The Turkish Nurses Association has also been working with other specialized nursing associations and other healthcare professional organizations, in order to continue its activities with great participation and cooperation. In all activities carried out in this direction, it is aimed to ensure the safety of healthcare workers, to provide scientific and accurate information to the society and healthcare professionals, to guide nurses serving all over our country while performing their duties, and to administer safer and more qualified care for patients. This article informs about the nursing practice and the activities of the Turkish Nurses Association during the COVID-19 pandemic which started in a very special year, the International Year of the Nurse.
