Low Cost Multitask Mobile Robot for Military Application

2020
In this work, we proposed the design and construction of an unconventional mobile robot. The robot will be able to move in different environments, including stairs, and will have a camera and wireless communication between the robot and the computer with an HMI interface. In the design proposal versatility, robustness and modularity are desired. The designed system works on subsystems ensuring the functionality of the robot modules, and a simple technical support. ROS was selected as the operating system due to its higher performance. Our proposed robot is capable of performing missions in environments similar to those that military personnel have access, but which are high risk. One of the main problems with most unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) is their inability to climb stairs, which limits access to multiple workspaces. This robot presents an important advance in UGV research with military application, which can be complemented with robotic arms or other tools according to demand.
