A High Accuracy Sun Sensor
1983
Abstract The High Accuracy Sun Sensor (HASS) is described, concentrating on measurement principle, the CCD detector used, the construction of the sensorhead and the operation of the sensor electronics. Tests on a development model show that the main aim of a 0.01" rms stability over a 10 minutes period is closely approached. Remaining problem areas are associated with the sensors sensitivity to illumination level variations, the shielding of the detector and the test and calibration equipment.
