Surgical Removal of Eye Worm in a Horse

2016
A horse was presented with history of varying degree of corneal opacity, epiphora, blepharospasm and ocular discomfort. Ocular examination of affected right eye revealed presence of eye worm moving in anterior chamber. Menace reflex for vision were positive. Eye worm was surgically removed under sedation with a small stab incision given 4o clock position at limbus. The worm was expelled out along with a flow of aqueous humour. After removal of eye worm, post-operatively topical application of Gentamicin and Diclofenac eye drop was administered. Complete recovery and clearance of the corneal opacity took three weeks.
