Metodología para evaluar la eficiencia biorreproductiva en rebaños vacunos

2020
Background: Various indicators with severe limitations have been used for the evaluation of herd´s reproductive efficiency. Objective: Obtain a global index that integrates all aspects of the herd's biorreproductive process with a structure that facilitates its application in any scenario. Methods: A global index of bio-reproductive efficiency was constructed from two partial indices or basic components: nulliparous females and births in cows, all of them are interpreted based on the deviation of the values with respect to the unit (objective accomplishment) with three levels of accreditation to achieve the desired reproductive efficiency. To illustrate the use of the proposed methodology, a simulation was carried out in a herd composed of 117 cows and 54 nulliparous with a medium level of accreditation (age at first birth and interval between births of 32 and 16 months respectively) and monthly periodicity. Results: The values obtained for Partial Birth Index in Cows (0.82), Partial Index of Developing Females (1.19) and Global Index of Biorreproductive Efficiency (1.01) indicate that the herd maintains its accreditation level. The evaluation can also to be aggregate transversally and in any unit of time to evaluate or serially longitudinally. This represent a herd´s biorreproductive efficiency continuous improvement system until to reaching the biologically permissible limits. Conclusions: A methodology is provided to build a Global Index and customized to assess the herd´s biorreproductive efficiency of the producer's performance in that activity.
