Preliminary results of the retrieval of the mean square slopes of the large-scale sea waves by the dual-frequency precipitation radar

2016
The Global Precipitation Measuring (GPM) was proposed jointly by US and Japan and satellite equipped with a dual-frequency precipitation radar (DPR) and a microwave radiometer (GMI). GPM is partly a follow-on mission of the Tropical Precipitation Mission (TRMM), but GPM will extend the observation to cold regions. Our team has experience in developing of retrieval algorithms for precipitation radar from TRMM therefore we intend to use DPR data for analysis and retrieval of sea wave parameters and wind speed. In this paper the features of the DPR data is discussed and the first examples of data processing are shown.
