10 Gbit/s x 10 channel transmission experiment over 600km with 100km repeater spacing employing cascaded fluoride-based erbium doped fibre amplifiers

1995
A 10 Gbit/s 10 channel transmission experiment with 100 km repeater spacing (23 dB fibre loss) is demonstrated with 600 km dispersion shifted fibre. Transmission was successfully performed by employing fluoride-based erbium doped fibre amplifiers and unequal channel spacing allocation.
