52 mJ CEP-stable sub-2-cycle 1.7 μm laser based on DC-OPA

We report on the generation of 52 mJ mid-infrared pulses at the center wavelength of 1.7 μm using a BiBO dual-chirped optical parametric amplification scheme (DC-OPA). Pulse compression down to 9.8 fs duration achieved after DC-OPA indicates a peak power of 5.3 TW, which will reach 10 TW peak power by using the whole energy of our available pump laser.
