Dermatological Imaging: A Survey of Techniques

2020
Various dermatological details can be revealed or enhanced by using alternative light source photography. UV, for example, can enhance surface detail or excite fluorescence, whilst IR can reveal hidden venous structures beneath the surface of the skin. Polarisation can reveal information on skin colour which is normally hidden by surface shine. This chapter outlines the practical aspects for the dermatological researcher to consider when imaging the skin, to enable them to take accurate and reproducible photographs of the skin when using these techniques.
