Design and Research of Iron Roughneck’s Clamping Device

Analysis and design were carried out to the clamping device of iron roughneck using in the Deep Continental Scientific Drilling Progress. According to the actual working conditions, the static analyses were carried out to the tong dies and the drilling tool. Based on the simulation results and the practical experience, the structure and strength of related components were analyzed, and some suggestions of the tong dies’ structure and the selection of drill pipe were given.
