Investigations on the Generation and Propagation of Hazardous Substances During the Laser Treatment of Ceramics

In the last years the laser treatment of ceramics entered production subsidiary to the well-established treatments of metals. Especially scratching of alumina substrates is state-of-the-art in production right now. This treatment comprises a thermal process of melting and evaporating material. As a consequence of this an airborne emission (fumes, dust, aerosols etc.) occurs, which might be hazardous.
