Género, afición y mérito: una biografía de Sara Borrell Ruiz

espanolEste articulo es un estudio del trabajo investigador de Sara Borrell Ruiz. Incorpora su participacion en la historia de la investigacion cientifica en Espana, al tiempo que apela a su reconocimiento cientifico y a sus temas de trabajo dentro del espacio de la quimica, la biologia y la biomedicina —nutricion y hormonas sexuales— entre los que le proporcionaron mas grato reconocimiento cientifico y medico. Esta reconstruccion muestra el espacio investigador a lo largo de la dictadura de Franco articulado en torno a una mujer con ambiciones investigadoras que aprovecha cada posibilidad para formarse, ampliar sus saberes y ensanchar y redirigir sus intereses cientificos. Centrada en el papel desempenado por sus ambiciones y sus meritos en la construccion de su identidad como cientifica y como mujer, esta propuesta biografica aspira a participar en la recuperacion para la historia de las ciencias tanto de los nombres de mujeres como los temas en los que trabajaron. EnglishThis article studies the research work done by Sara Borrell Ruiz. It includes her participation in the history of scientific research in Spain while appealing to her recognition as a scientist in chemistry, biology and biomedicine —nutrition and sexual hormones— among the most rewarding for her and that provided her academic and medical recognition. This reconstruction shows a research space during Franco dictatorship articulated around the life of a woman with scientific ambitions that took advantage of every opportunity to be trained, to widen her knowledge and reorient her scientific interests. By focusing on the role played by her ambitions and merits in the construction of her identity as a scientist and as a woman, the biographical proposal aspires to retrieve for the history of the sciences in Spain both woman’s names and their research work.
