Investigation and analysis of anemia condition among sea frontier army officers and soldiers

Objective To investigate the conditions and distribution characteristics of anemia among sea frontier army offi cers and soldiers.Methods Cluster sampling method was used.2 mL intravenous blood among 6 192 cases of sea frontier army officers and soldiers were collected respectively for hemoglobin(Hb) detection,and questionnaire survey was con ducted.Results A total of 106 army officers and soldiers met the diagnostic criteria of anemia,of whom 95 men had Hb 120 g/L and 11 women had Hb110 g/L,the anemia rate was 1.7%.Regarding to the anemia rate,women was higher than men,officers was higher soldiers,navy was higher than army,army officers and soldiers in Hainan Province were higher than those in other provinces,army officers and soldiers serving ≤2 years were higher than the rest,with statistically signif icant differences for all(P 0.05).Among the 10 anemia-related subjective symptoms listed in the questionnaire,fatigue had the highest incidence rate of 42.5%.Conclusion The anemia rate of sea frontier army officers and soldiers is quite low.Age,gender,duty,military service,region and period of service have significant influence on anemia rate.When fatigue and other subjective symptoms appear,timely detection of Hb contributes to the early diagnosis and treatment of anemia.
