Real-time S-scan imaging reconstruction for ultrasonic phase array based on CORDIC and sectorial interpolation algorithms

In the sectorial scan (S-scan) view of the ultrasound phase array system, the echo data produced from the ultrasonic sensors usually are acquired in the polar coordinates, but need to be displayed in the Cartesian coordinates, which can then realize image reconstruction with pixel filling technology. To effectively perform coordinate conversion and improve the smooth and detailed regions of the ultrasonic S-scan image, herein we propose an algorithm of performing coordinate conversion with the interpolation by using the Radix4-CORDIC and sectorial interpolation technology. The algorithm is validated according to the implementation of FPGA technology, and the results demonstrate the algorithm has good real-time performance and can greatly improve the quality of the S-scan image.
