Catalytic Activity of Ascorbic Acid and Ammonium Carbonate in Oxidative Hair Dyes

2010
It has been investigated the influence of ascorbic acid and ammonium carbonate on the dyestuff formation rate with oxidative hair dyes. It was established a high positive catalytic activity in first 10 minutes of the process - the acceleration was nearly three times using ascorbic acid and nearly six times using a combination of ascorbic acid and ammonium carbonate. The results obtained have given grounds for using these substances for reducing the duration time of oxidative dyeing process on hair.
