Color Atlas of Skin Diseases, Volume I and II

The English edition of this atlas in 2 volumes has been available since 1957, but for some unaccountable reason our attention was called to it only a few weeks ago. An atlas does not become outdated quickly, as does a textbook, and that is fortunate, for the 2 volumes afford a wealth of stimulating looking and reading. The preface states that the Atlas might well be called the end product of collaboration of practically all dermatologists in Japan whose cooperation was enlisted by the editors. From over 2,500 photographs some 200 were selected for publication, all but a few of them clinical lesions. The result is a collection of life-like illustrations that are large and clear. With each illustration there is a very short paragraph of text which either points out its diagnostic features or gives a brief history of the case or comments on the treatment. In 1 or
