Arsenic removal by corrosion induced adsorption

2000
Apart from the arising arsenic crisis in Bangladesh, some spots of natural arsenic contamination around the world are known since a long time (Sancha,1992). The Andean region of northern Chile and the neighbouring countries Argentina and Bolivia are one of those regions, where arsenic concentrations around 500 μg/L are found in ground and surface water and used for rural and small town water supply without any treatment. In this desert region a change to alternative water sources is not possible, resulting in a need for the development of low-cost and easy-tomaintain processes for the removal of arsenic from drinking water.
