A sixth order polynomial method for the axisymmetric laminar boundary layer in incompressible flow
1992
A sixth-order polynomial turns out to fit very well the velocity distribution within a boundary layer, providing the shear stress at layer origin (x = 0) is close to the Falkner-Skan solution. A coefficient of the polynomial is then determined to optimize the behaviour of solution at this point (x = 0). The proposed method yields very good results both for 2D and axisymmetric flows, as regards the boundary separation and other parameters of interest
