Modelling of a Novel Compound Screw Mechanism based on Analysis of Dynamics and Faults in Machinery

Screw feed systems are widely used for various machines such as lathes, milling machines and other processing equipment. However, the speed is difficult to meet the demand of different working conditions. To improve the performance of in common screw-nut feed system, this paper presents a novel mechanism with a compound screw transmission system, which empowers the feed velocity and accuracy at low cost, compared with that of replacing the power sources. It is designed to increase the power output without replacing the power sources, thereby enhancing efficiency and controlling costs. Combined with the common screw mechanism, the mechanical structure is innovatively de-signed to make the rotation motion superposition. Furthermore, a digital mod-el is established to derive the displacement formula for the new mechanism. Then, the relationship among the spin direction, lead and output linear dis-placement is analyzed by dynamics theory. Additionally, the relationship among power, screw pitch and load are researched by mechanics calculation. The results of the above calculation formulas are used to establish the data-base, and conduct the motion simulation experiment by Simulation module, which is verified that the correctness of the displacement formula for the new compound screw mechanism. This paper provides a new compound screw mechanism with a simple structure, an adjustable transmission ratio and fast transmission speed for the field of transmission technology and theoretical education.
