Do You Hear What I Hear

2002
“ Do You Hear What I Hear?” is a case study written to challenge students who are in the process of earning a superintendent’s certificate. The issues presented in this scenario encourage superintendents to consider communication practices employed with the Board of Trustees and the community. Several theories and models would be appropriate to address the problems presented. Among these are the open systems model, concepts of power, a communications model, leadership style, and conflict management. Legal issues may also be considered. Aspiring superintendents will have the opportunity to recognize and problem solve different situations among personalities that include parents, teachers, and community members in a school district.
