The effects of exposure to Chevron Ice-B-Gon® deicer in laboratory animals and human volunteers

Abstract Chevron Ice-B-Gon® Deicer (IBG) is a pelletized formulation of calcium magnesium acetate (CMA). Its introduction into the marketplace several years ago as an alternative deicer required that Chevron address any concerns about its potential effects to exposed humans and to the environment. The toxicity studies which were conducted with laboratory animals and one study with human volunteers to determine if exposure to IBG poses an undue risk to the health of humans are discussed.
