Vesicular lesions in secondary syphilis; report of a case.

There is an axiom that vesicular lesions in an adult are never due to secondary syphilis. Howles, 1 however, has indicated that he has seen a number of cases in Negroes. As a further exception to that rule, the following case in a young white woman is reported. REPORT OF CASE J. R., a 21-year-old white prostitute, was sent to the Cincinnati Workhouse Quarantine Hospital, where she was found to have a positive reaction of 160 Kahn units to the serological test for syphilis. On repetition two days later, the serological test for syphilis gave a positive reaction of 360 Kahn units. At the time of her admission there, she stated that for the past three weeks she had had blisters on her palms, which, when pricked, yielded a clear fluid. Examination of the fluid under the dark-field microscope showed it to contain numerous Treponema pallidum organisms. There was no
