Hybrid Power System Stochastic Optimization

2019
The optimum ratio of individual elements in renewable energy-based hybrid power systems (HPS) is determined with taking a number of important factors into account. Optimization of such hybrid power system should take into account its stochasticity. It is suggested that the simulation modeling method for simulation of HPS should be used. The research compared different approaches to modeling the power balance with actual indicators of wind speed, solar radiation, and electricity consumption. There were selected the data for January and July 2016 of the region of Zaporizhzhya, Ukraine. Both a separate settlement in the region of Zaporizhzhya and a group of settlements were considered as consumers. The presence of solar generating in the considered example increases the number of negative values of the balance of power, and the presence of wind power plants (WPP) increases the number of positive values. The combination of WPP and SPP aligns the distribution of negative and positive values. In general, differences in model and measured values are noticeable in the area of small unbalances that have little effect on the adequacy of the power grid. Instead, significant imbalances are modeled quite reliably.
