The invention relates to a hydraulic cooling control method of a hydraulic torque converter for a tunnel construction internal combustion traction locomotive. The hydraulic cooling control method comprises an oil tank (1), a liquid level and liquid temperature meter (2), an air filter (3), a first filter (4), a first one-way valve (5), a first pressure switch (6), an internal combustion engine output shaft (7), an internal combustion engine oil pump (8), a second one-way valve (9), a pressure gauge (10), an overflow valve (11), a two-position and three-way solenoid valve (12), a third one-way valve (13), a hydraulic motor (14), an air cooler (15), a temperature controller (16), a fourth one-way valve (17), a second pressure switch (18) and a second filter (19), wherein when the temperature of hydraulic transmission oil is higher than 85 DEG C, the hydraulic motor starts to work, and the air cooler cools the hydraulic transmission oil; and when the temperature of the hydraulic transmission oil is lower than 85 DEG C, the hydraulic motor stops working, and an internal combustion engine oil pump is idle, so that the load of an internal combustion engine can be reduced.
