TYPE-2 FUZZY LOGIC AND A CASE STUDY APPLIED TO AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL

2010
Type-2 fuzzy logic deals with certain aspects that traditional fuzzy logic (type-1) is unable to solve, such as the uncertainty present in the definition of fuzzy sets. This work presents a fuzzy logic approach to support decision making in air traffic control. It describes the development of a model structured according to type -2 fuzzy logic and based on human specialist knowledge applied to takeoff permission. A methodology for the validation of the model was also developed. The results show the pote ntial and efficiency of the methodology proposed to support decision making in air traffic control.
