Optimal capacity allocation method of energy storage system for increasing wind power integration

This paper comprehensively needs to investigate the cost of energy storage system (ESS), the cost of equivalent charging and discharging, the economic benefits, and other factors to consider, aiming at comprehensive benefit maximization, setting the operation mode and configuration method of wind farm ESS when adapting to wind power generation capacity. Taking 2017 restricted wind farms in northeast China as an example, the ESS configuration method proposed in this paper can improve the degree of wind power integration. The example shows that the optimal configuration of ESS is closely related to the wind farm power fluctuation characteristics, the degree of limitation and the ESS cost. When too much capacity is allocated, the ESS is no longer economical.
