Image reconstruction using sinogram interpolation for limited-angle computed tomography

2017
In X-ray computed tomography (CT) an important challenge is to reduce the radiation dose without significantly degrading the image quality. However the standard reconstruction algorithms produce image reconstructions with artifacts. In this context several methods have been widely studied in order to enhance quality of image reconstruction. The aim of this work is to study and to implement a method of reconstruction of the X-ray tomography able to reconstruct the image from inadequate number of projections. Our strategy is based on an interpolation method to restore the sinogram from its available incomplete sinogram. The experimental results on simulated images have consistently shown that, the application of classical method filtered back projection (FBP) on the enhanced sinogram by the interpolation are better than those obtained without sinogram interpolation.
