Systems and methods for controlling the speed of vehicles

A motor control system for a vehicle includes a vehicle speed module that determines a vehicle speed. A control circuit (CL) module determines a CL-torque based on the difference between a target vehicle speed and the actual vehicle speed. An engine torque module determines an engine torque based on the CL-torque and based on an accelerator pedal position, engine torque request. A switching control module controls the switching of an inverter based on the motor torque for regulating the power supply to an electric motor of the vehicle.
