Synthesis, Characterization and Thermal Properties of a Novel Copper -Organic Framework with Benzenehexabenzoic Acid

The hydrothermal reaction between copper(II) nitrate and benzenehexabenzoic acid (BHB-H6) yielded a novel two-dimensional metal-organic framework, Cu 2(BHB-H2)(H 2O) 2, which has been structurally characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, elemental analysis and thermogravimetry. The framework is stable to 250 o C, and reversibly undergoes the loss of coordinated water molecules.
