APORTES AL ESTUDIO DE LAS PRIMERAS OCUPACIONES HUMANAS EN EL SUR DE LA PENÍNSULA IBÉRICA. EL CASO DE CÚLLAR-BAZA 1 CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE STUDY OF EARLY HUMAN OCCUPATION IN THE SOUTH OF THE IBERIAN PENINSULA. THE CULLAR-BAZA 1 CASE

2010
Excavations conducted in seventies and eighties of the twentieth century on the site of Cullar-Baza 1 (Cullar, Granada) provided archaeopaleontological evidence for placing the site on the transition between Early and Middle Pleistocene. Human presence signs are reduced to few but truly lithic items framed under Mode 1-Oldowan. The registered faunal assemblage was rich and in a good grade of conservation, strengthening its position in the immediate aftermath of the Brunhes-Matuyama geomagnetic reversal. Here we provide a brief summary of thirty-five years of relevant publications.
