The growth of Nd3+ : GdxY1−xAl3(BO3)4 crystals

Abstract Large crystals of Nd 3+  : Gd 0.2 Y 0.75 Al 3 (BO 3 ) 4 with a size of up to 32 mm have been grown from a 90 wt% K 2 Mo 3 O 10  : 10 wt% B 2 O 3 flux. The liquids temperature curve for this growth system was determined by repeated seeding. From the grown crystal boule, a high-quality laser bulk crystal with dimensions of 4 mm×5 mm×6 mm was cut out, and the absorption spectrum was measured. A laser output at 0.532 μm was realized when this crystal was pumped by a laser diode.
