Introduction and Promotion of YT 86-368 in Dehong District

YT 86-368 was introduced to local district in 1997 by Dehong Sugarcane Research Institute.After years of tests and demonstrations in different areas,YT 86-368 was selected for its good adaptability,high cane yield,good ratooning ability,drought resistance and suitability for growing in dryland.It showed good agronomic and technical characteristics,with average cane yield of 104341.5 kg/hm2,21.93% more than that of the check variety GT 11.The average sucrose content was 14.25%,and the average total sugar content was 14868.75 kg/hm2,16.20% more than that of the check.A Total of over 40000 hm2 of YT 86-368 was promoted by 2009.The variety performed satisfactorily during 2009,a year with severe drought,and was chosen for extension to grow in dryland in Yunan again.
