Characterization of Electromagnetic Nonlinearities of RFI/EMI Gasket: A Microstrip Based Approach

The knowledge of the electromagnetic nonlinearities of materials is of paramount importance for a wide variety of application. RFI/EMI shielding gasket is comparatively a new material used in this domain, and its electromagnetic nonlinearities are not very renowned. This research focused to develop a microstrip-based technique to study the electromagnetic nonlinearities of RFI shielding gaskets, which involved third & fifth-order passive intermodulation (PIM), and second & third- order harmonic distortion (HD). A bit of nickel and two types of gaskets were use as material-under-test (MUT) at 700MHz frequency band. The output of this research might help in the material selection for wide variety of applications.
